North Carolina Tulip Appliqué Wall Hanging Quilt Pattern
This design grew out of my love for old quilt blocks and quiet, steady making. The North Carolina Tulip has always felt both strong and gentle to me—floral without being fussy, graphic without feeling cold. I wanted to slow it down, let the shapes breathe, and turn it into a piece that could live on a wall and quietly anchor a room. The soft blues and greens, layered by hand, feel calm and grounded—like a small pause in the day.
This is a 20 × 20″ applique wall hanging with bold, organic shapes and a timeless, folk-art feel. It’s meditative to make, forgiving by nature, and especially lovely if you enjoy process-driven sewing and thoughtful finishing.

This project has a gentle rhythm to it—trace, cut, fuse, stitch—one shape at a time. It’s the kind of make that rewards patience and celebrates small imperfections, the kind that remind you something was made by hand.
